READING THE BIBLE
Do you have a religion? Or do you believe the existence of the god? If not both of before questions, you guys, do you read a law book?
A few days ago, I began to read the bible well, and it’s not the first trial. If a person does not have strong belief, it would be very hard to complete; the style and the stories are very classic and just traditional, so it is often very easy to be bored. Moreover, many persons do not like a history! (Surely, it can be only my thought.) Also, I do not have any experience about other religions such as Islam and Buddhism, what I will write here is limited to only the Christian.
Actually, the length of a bible is incredible. Any person will not be able to complete to read the whole bible for a short time. In addition, many sentences of the bible include several interpretable contents, like the historic environment or the culture of the specific religions. Thus, to read well, it needs a lot of time.
I think any bible includes historic stories, to explain the start of the religions. Hence, when people start to read it, they might be interested in the bible; also, sometimes the contents of the bible are similar to those of history books. However, it is fact that the best seller in the world and the book which the most numerable people do not read is exactly the bible. It shows the characteristics of a bible to normal people.
As non-religious people, they might not have read any law book, except for the students majoring in law schools. Law books are very similar to bibles, because both of them say to people about regulations. Only difference is the language: bibles are written by the god’s language, and law books are done by human beings’. In the era of the bible, it would have been the law book for people, because the societies at that time were controlled by the religions as well as politicians.
As a Christian, or any religious persons, when they pray for themselves, it is the conversation with their god in their god’s worlds. In that, it’s a kind of behaviors in the god’s society, so it also needs to follow the god’s regulatory. In other words, if you do not know what the god did and wanted, what you said to the god could be out of the boundary that the god can affect.
As a normal person, maybe you need to know the laws when you try to do something new. Also, you can do plan something with information of the relative laws. In a belief, I think, the bible plays the same role of the law books.
As a result, I hope (!) to keep my reading, even slowly, but I do not know the future.
